BOX SCORE 2 Brooklyn, NY - Hunter College women's volleyball went 1-1 this past weekend at a CUNYAC multi-match tournament, defeating John Jay College in three sets before falling to Baruch in four sets.
After the weekend the Hawks are 11-11 overall this season and 5-1 in conference play.
In the first match of the day, the Hawks got a win against the Bloodhounds in three sets with scores of 25-15, 26-24 and 25-12.
Julia Connolly led the team with 11 kills, while
Taylor Kerr-Haiduk followed with 10 kills of her own.
Miranda Hogan continued to lead the team at the setter position, recording 31 assists in the win. Hogan and
Haley Trunkett both led the Hawks on defense, each tallying nine digs.
In the match against Baruch, the Hawks took the first set with a score of 25-19, but then quickly fell behind as the Bearcats took the next three sets with scores of 25-20, 25-21 and 25-20.
The Hawks took the early 1-0 lead, but were swept through the next three to fall 3-1.
Angelica Mae Aquino matched Baruch's Sydney Parks with 13 kills for a game high while Hogan registered 32 assists and 24 digs. Trunkett did her part in the loss with 20 digs, six assists and three service aces.
The Hawks will return to action when they compete in the Elmira Tournament on Friday Oct. 16 and Saturday Oct. 17.
