New York, NY - The women's tennis team closed out their 2015-16 regular season portion of their schedule with a match against the Eagles of St. Joseph's- Long Island. The Hawks were blanked in doubles round and went down swinging in the singles round, leaving one matched unfinished to mark an 8-0 loss. The Purple and Gold move to 4-6 overall, 4-2 in CUNYAC.
Angelina Usherenko and
Sara Beck were the closest to grabbing a win at first doubles, but were defeated 8-5.
Paulina Szegda and Mary Boudin went down 8-2 at second doubles while
Catherine Ng and
Pauline McGlone were stopped at third doubles, 8-0.
Usherenko, Szegda and Ng each fell by scores of 6-1, 6-2 at first, second and fourth singles.
Mary Budin was tripped up by Victoria Panicola at fifth singles, 6-1, 6-1 while
Linda Gebre Yohannes was defeated, 6-0, 6-0.
The Hawks will wait to find out which seed they will be heading into the CUNYAC Women's Tennis Championship Tournament. First round is set for Octobe 23.
