New York, NY – The Hunter men's basketball team posted a 6-10 conference record during the 2014-15 season which was good enough for the #6 seed in the eight-team field of the CUNYAC Men's Basketball Championship presented by Army ROTC.
Baruch (18-6) took the #1 seed, besting the rest of the conference with a CUNYAC record of 14-2. It was a toss-up for the #2 spot after both Brooklyn (20-5) and Lehman (17-8)shared identical 12-4 records. However, the tie-breaker favored the Bulldogs which leaves the Lightning as the #3 seed. The College of Staten Island (17-8) secured the #4 seed with an 11-5 in-conference record while York (13-12, 8-8 CUNYAC) rounds out the top-five. John Jay (5-20, 4-12 CUNYAC) and CCNY (8-16 CUNYAC) cap the eight-team tournament.
The Hawks (9-16) match up against the third seeded Lehman which will be played on the Lightning's home court, the Apex Center in the Bronx, NY on Sunday, February 22 at 1pm. The winner will face the victor of #1 Baruch/#8 CCNY in the semi-finals on Tuesday, February 24 with the championship game the following Friday, February 28 at CCNY which will be broadcasted through ESPN3.
The Purple and Gold are looking to avenge the two losses they suffered against Lehman during the regular season. The first meeting back on January 16 yielded a 78-55 defeat on the Hawks' home court. In the second matchup, Hunter overcame a 19-point deficit in the second half but fell just shy of completing the comeback as they suffered a 61-60 defeat.
With three players averaging in double figures, Hunter is aiming for a different outcome than the previous two meetings.

Brian Kruger is close behind with 13.5.
Lester Anim rounds out the trio with 11.5 points per contest. Kruger, who is shooting an impressive .899 from the charity stripe this season, currently holds the highest career free throw percentage in the history of the CUNYAC with an outstanding mark of 88.67%.
