New York, NY - Hunter College women's volleyball earned its fourth-straight win on Thursday night, defeating Brooklyn College in three sets with scores of 25-15, 25-17 and 25-19.
The Hawks are now 4-2 overall and 4-0 in CUNYAC play.
Brooklyn struck first in the first set of the match, jumping out to a 2-0 lead, but the Hawks quickly score three-straight points to move in front. From there it was close, featuring three tied scores until Hunter would begin to slowly stretch the lead, making the score 17-10.
The were eventually able to pull off a 25-15 win in the first set with
Julia Connolly notching a service ace for the final set point.
The second set began in similar fashion as each team struggled to maintain a permanent lead. It would not be until Hunter's Taylor Haiduk-Kerr recorded three-straight kills that the Hawks would pull ahead comfortably, finding a 12-7 lead.
The Bulldogs began to slowly chip away at the score, but it would not be enough as Hunter took the second set, 25-17 for a 2-0 lead.
The Bulldogs came out on fire in the third, scoring four-straight points for a 4-0 lead, but Hunter went on a run of their own, recording 11-straight points to pull ahead, 14-7. Brooklyn attempted to catch back up but the Hawks were able to hold them off, taking the third set 25-19 and winning the match 3-0.
Haiduk-Kerr had an outstanding game for Hunter, tallying 17 kills in the win, while setter
Miranda Hogan continued to lead the team in assists with 29 on the night.
The Hawks return to action on Saturday, September 19 when they play two matches in Allentown, Pa. against Muhlenberg College (12 p.m.) and Alvernia University (2 p.m.).
