BOX SCORE Brooklyn, NY - Hunter College men's basketball dropped a game to St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn on Monday night with a score of 80-60.
The Hawks are now 5-5 overall while maintaining a 3-1 conference record.
A 24-point performance from Hunter's
Amer Lukac was not enough to lead the Hawks over the Bears as Hunter fell behind early in the first half and struggled to keep up.
The Bears held the Purple and Gold to just a 26.7 shooting percentage in the first half, while St. Joseph's shot 50 percent from the floor to lead 37-27 at halftime. Lukac tallied 13 of his 24 points in the first half.
St. Joseph's hit the first seven shots of the second half until Hunter's
Gio Gabbidon broke the Hawk's drought at the 14 minute mark with a three-pointer. Trailing by 30 points, the Purple and Gold began to find baskets as Lukac led the way by scoring 11 of Hunter's next 15 points over a five minute span.
A layup from
Danny Fusco made the score 72-51 and
Lowell Stevens finished out the game with five points in the last three minutes as Hunter fell 80-60.
Lukac led the fight with 24 points and nine rebounds in the loss while the team ended the game with a 32.1 field goal percentage.
The Hawks return to action on Dec. 30 when they host Mount Saint Mary College at 3 p.m.
