BOX SCORE New York, NY - Hunter College women's basketball fell to New York University on Sunday night with a score of 78-41.
The Hawks are now 4-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play after their first CUNYAC win over Medgar Evers on Friday.
The game started close with three-pointers from
Ashley Yu and
Theresa Leung to start off the Purple and Gold, but the Violets began to pull away at the five minute mark, going on a 10-0 run. Leung finished off the first quarter with a jumper as Hunter trailed 19-10.
The Hawks struggled to score in the second quarter, not finding a basket until
Selina Lim hit a layup at the 5:29 minute mark. Lim followed that up with another two points, helping Hunter stay in the game.Â
NYU was hard to stop, scoring 11 points in the last 1:30 of the second quarter to lead 45-17 at halftime.
The Hawks started the third quarter strong as
Christine Patterson, Lim and Leung contributed a combined six points, but the Violets once again went on a run, scoring nine-straight.
Hunter was able to score in the fourth quarter, but could not close up NYU's lead as they fell 78-41 to the Violets.
Lim led the way with 12 points, while Leung followed with seven. Patterson added a team-high 10 rebounds as the Hawks shot 26.7 percent from the floor in the loss.
Hunter returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 6 when they face John Jay at 5:30 p.m.
