BOX SCORE New York, NY - Hunter College women's basketball got their second-straight CUNYAC win on Tuesday night with the defeat of John Jay College, 79-55.
The Hawks improve to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
Despite only leading by two points (26-24) at halftime off a 29.4 field goal percentage, the Hawks came back in the third quarter with dominance as
Jade Aponte started the half with a three-pointer. The shot sparked a 12-2 run in the first five minutes to give Hunter a 38-30 lead. After two points from the Bloodhounds brought them within six, the Purple and Gold began to shoot the lights out.

Theresa Leung and Aponte all combined for Hunter's 23 points in the remaining five minutes of the third, including two baskets from behind the arc from Yu.Â
Starting the fourth quarter with a 61-38 lead, the Hawks maintained control, outscoring the Bloodhounds 13-2 within four minutes. Hunter held off John Jay to eventually get the 79-55 victory.
Five players scored in double-figures with Aponte leading the way with a season-high 18 points and four steals. Arias followed by posting her first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Yu recorded 11 points in the win by going 3-5 from behind the three-point line, while Patterson and Lueng each tallied ten points.
The Hawks ended the game with a 40.6 field goal percentage.
Hunter returns to action when they face CCNY on Friday at 5 p.m.
