BOX SCORE New York, NY - Hunter College women's volleyball swept Lehman College on Tuesday night at the Hunter Sportsplex, defeating the Lightning in three sets with scores of 25-11, 25-12 and 25-15.
The Hawks are now 10-8 this season and continue CUNYAC play undefeated with a mark of 5-0.
With the score 15-11 in the first set the Purple and Gold scored 11 straight points, off 11 serves from
Miranda Hogan, to win the set 25-11.Â
The second set was a bit closer until the Hawks began to run away with it, going on a 7-2 run that featured kills from
Samantha Barrett and
Madelle Tabunda. Hunter scored the last two points of the set to win it, 25-12 and lead the match, 2-0.
The Hawks dominated the third set early, jumping out to a 9-3 lead. An amazing 9-0 run would widen the Hunter lead, making the score 17-4. From there Lehman went on a run of their own to get back into the game, but it was not enough to stop the Hawks from taking the third set, 25-15 and winning the match, 3-0.Â
Barrett had a fantastic match for the Hawks, leading the team with 11 kills and three blocks, while only committing three errors for a .381 hitting percentage.
Breanna Banske had 24 assists, while
Cristy Pariama led the team on defense with 11 digs.
The Hawks return to action on Thursday, September 29 when they travel to Vassar College for a 7 p.m. match.
