BOX SCORE New York, NY - Hunter College women's volleyball defeated Medgar Evers on Tuesday night in its CUNYAC opener, getting the edge over the Cougars in three sets with scores sof 25-8, 25-12 and 25-5.
With the victory, the Hawks improve to 2-3 so far this season after starting the year off at the NYU Invitational last weekend.
Hunter took an early lead in the first set against the Cougars before scoring 11-straight points off the serves of
Samantha Barrett to solidify the first-set win, 25-8. Medgar Evers struck first in the second set, but the Hawks would once again go on an amazing run, outscoring the Cougars 10-0 to lead 19-7 and eventually get the victory.
The Hawks closed out the victory with another dominant set, taking advantage of Cougar errors to win, 25-5 and take the match 3-0.
Julia Connolly led the team with seven kills in the win, while
Breanna Banske and
Miranda Hogan each tallied eight assists.
Haley Trunkett led the Purple and Gold defensively with five digs.Â
Hunter returns to action tomorrow when they travel to Stevens Institute of Technology for a 7 p.m. match.
