BOX SCORE Throggs Neck, NY - Hunter College men's basketball dropped a non-conference game on Wednesday night to Maritime College, taking it to overtime before falling 91-84.

The Hawks are now 7-12 this season with a 5-5 CUNYAC record.

Hunter led the Privateers at halftime with a score of 34-30, shooting 46.7 percent from the floor and hitting 14 field goals. Gio Gabbidon led the Hawks in the first half with eight points, hitting four of his five shot attempts.

Maritime started the second half by going on a 9-1 run to take the lead and managed to lead by as much as ten points with 11:30 to play. From there Matt Franks scored five-straight points and Mamadou Sakho added a three-pointer to cut Martime's lead to two points.

The Hawks would regain control of the game when Franks hit back-to-back shots from behind the arc and converted on two free throws with 1:38 left in regulation. He tied up the score off a free throw and neither team would score in the remaining 20 seconds to send it into overtime.

The Purple and Gold eventually fell in overtime as the Privateers outscored them 15-8 in the extra five minutes.

Franks led the team with 30 points for a new career-high. He added three steals, three assists and nine rebounds. Gabbidon continued to be a force for the Hawks, scoring 15 points for his fifth double-figure scoring performance in six games.

Amer Lukac recorded his third double-double of the season with 13 points and 14 rebounds.

The team returns to action on Friday, Jan. 27 when they travel to Medgar Evers College for an 8 p.m. game.
