The Hawks drop to 7-13 this season and 5-6 in the CUNYAC conference.
The Purple and Gold could not control the Cougar's hot shooting night as Medgar Evers finished the first half with a 65.5 field goal percentage, hitting 19 field goals to lead 44-34 at halftime.
Lowell Stevens led Hunter in the first 20 minutes with 11 points in just 11 minutes of play.
Things remained the same in the second with the Cougars maintaining a comfortable lead and then jumping out to as much as 17 points with eight minutes to play.
From there the Hawks began to make a run as

Blendi Ibraj,
Mamadou Sakho and
Gio Gabbidon combined for 16 points to cut Medgar Evers lead to just three points.Â
A steal and fastbreak layup from Gabbidon with 40 seconds left in regulation helped Hunter trail by just one point but it would not be enough as the Cougars pulled out the 84-78 win.
