New York, N.Y. - Hunter College women's volleyball swept Brooklyn College and John Jay College on Monday in a City University of New York Athletic Conference Tri-Match, hosted at the Hunter Sportsplex.
All three teams were previously unbeaten in the conference before the Hawks got the wins to improve to 17-3 and 6-0 in the CUNYAC.
Hunter 3, Brooklyn 0
The Hawks started out the day by defeating the Bulldogs in three with scores of 25-18, 25-17 and 25-15.
The Purple and Gold hit .208 on the match, recording 44 kill and holding Brooklyn to a .010 hitting percentage.
Emily Wasson led the way for the Hawks with one of her best performances of the season, recording 14 kills and a .440 hitting percentage.Â
Taylor Haiduk followed with 10 kills and
Julia Connolly added eight.
Haley Trunkett led the squad with 17 digs in the win, while Connolly chipped in 11 of her own and
Miranda Hogan posted 10. Hogan also paced the Hunter offense with 32 assists in the three-set victory.
Hunter 3, John Jay 0
The Purple and Gold finished off the day with the sweep of John Jay, featuring sets with scores of 25-16, 25-11 and 25-17.
The Hawks held the Bloodhounds to just a -.129 hitting percentage while posting a mark of .268 themselves. It was team effort in the win as 10 players recorded at least one kills with Wasson leading the way with seven.
Karina Young notched a team-high three blocks, while Trunkett posted 14 digs and Hogan had 32 assists in the second victory of the day.
The team returns to action on October 11 when they travel to the United State Merchant Marine Academy for a 7 p.m. match.
