Owings Mills, MD - Hunter College women's volleyball finished off a historic season on Friday night, falling to #15 nationally ranked Stevenson University in the first round of the NCAA Championship Tournament.
The Hawks dropped the match to the Mustangs in three sets with scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-19, to end the 2017 campaign with the best record in Hunter program history (27-5).
The Hawks saw a year where they won their fourth-straight CUNYAC championship, made their fourth-straight NCAA tournament appearance and acheived a 14-match win streak mid-season. The Purple and Gold will continue their amazing 25-match conference win streak into the 2018 season.
Hunter hit .139 in the match, while the Mustangs recorded a .363 hitting percentage. Taylor Haiduk led the Hunter attack with eight kills and Marlena Budna followed with seven. Emily Wasson added six kills.
Haley Trunkett paced the defensive effort with a team-high 12 digs as Miranda Hogan chipped in ten, in addition to her 22 assists in the loss.
The Hawks graduate one senior in
Julia Connolly, who ends her four-year Hunter career as the all-time leader in kills.
