BOX SCORE Schenectady, N.Y. - Hunter College men's basketball earned its first win of the 2017-18 season on Sunday by defeating FDU Florham with a score of 79-72.

The Hawks improved to 1-3 this year, while the Devils are now 0-5.

The first half remained close until the Purple and Gold took control in the last five minutes. George Keener contributed seven points in three minutes to help the Hawks lead 33-30 at the half.

Keener, Gio Gabbidon, Danny Fusco and Matt Franks each opened up the second with baskets to lift Hunter to a seven-point lead. The Devils began to close in with 11 minutes to play and then took the lead, but a 14-0 run gave the Hawks the 68-58 advantage at the 4:10 minute mark. Amer Lukac closed it out with two free throws at the Purple and Gold got the victory, 79-72.

The Hawks had a fantastic shooting day, recording a 52.8 field goal percentage, led by Franks' 19 points. He was followed by Fusco and Keener, who each tallied 17, while Lukac had 13 and Gabbidon added 11 points. 

Lukac grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds for a double-double.

The team returns to action on Nov. 28 when they host the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
