BOX SCORE New York, NY - Hunter College men's basketball got a win over #7 seed Brooklyn College on Friday night, 71-65,  to advance to the quarterfinals of the CUNYAC Championship tournament. 

The Hawks move on to the quarterfinals of the conference tournament for the first time since the 2012-13 season. 

The Hawks played a close first half as both teams recorded a 50.0 field goal percentage while Hunter led 37-35 at the break. Amer Lukac scored a team-high 13 points in the first half, while Danny Fusco and Mamadou Sakho each notched nine.

The Purple and Gold held onto a close lead for the beginning of the second half until Brooklyn tied it up at the 12:36 minute mark and then took a one-point lead. The scored would be tied two more times over the next eight minutes as neither team could hold onto a solid lead. 

Down by two points with 3:05 to play, Hunter's Fusco hit a layup and Lukac followed that up with a three-pointer less than a minute later. Sakho scored two points on the Hawk's next possession and the team never looked back, converting on free throws in the last 50 seconds of the game to get the victory, 71-65. 

Lukac finished with a team-high 20 points, while Fusco followed with 18. Sakho recorded his first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds and Matt Franks added 11 points in the win. 

Hunter shot 44.6 percent from the floor, while holding the Bulldogs to a 41.7 field goal percentage.

The Hawks are set to play #3 seed Lehman College on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Bronx, NY.
