BOX SCORE New York, NY - Hunter College women's basketball dropped a conference game to the College of Staten Island on Saturday afternoon with a score of 76-68.
The Hawks are 11-11 overall and 7-6 in the CUNYAC after winning three of their last five games.
The Purple and Gold struggled from the floor in the first half, not hitting any shots from behind the three-point line as the Dolphins led 38-30. Ashely Arias was a highlight for the Hawks, shooting 5-5 in the paint to lead the team with 10 points in the first two quarters.
Staten Island led for the entire third quarter, going up by as much as 16 points, but the Hawks managed to make the score 58-50 after an 8-3 run in the last minute.
The Purple and Gold struck first in the fourth off a layup from
Theresa Leung to cut the Dolphin's lead to just six points. From there both teams could not find a basket, going almost three minutes with no scoring.Â
Edina Music scored two points at the 6:51 minute mark, spurring a Hunter run that featured seven-straight points from Leung to help the Hawks trail by just one point.Â
Leading by just one point with four minutes left in regulation, the Dolphins outscored the Purple and Gold 11-5 in the remaining time to take the game, 76-68.
Leung finshed with 21 points off nine field goals, hitting three shots from behind the arc. Arias followed with 13 points and seven rebounds and
Christine Patterson added ten.
The Hawks return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 7 when they host Baruch College at 5 p.m.
