Men's Basketball Wins Third-Straight By Defeating Wheelock

Fusco and Keener Score 19 Each

New York, N.Y. - Hunter College men's basketball got it's third-straight win on Friday night by defeating Wheelock College with a score of 87-58.

The Hawks improved to 7-5 overall, while the Wildcats fell to 1-9 this season.

Hunter started the game off by leading for the first ten minutes. At the 12:47 minute mark Wheelock began to find points, scoring ten-straight to pull ahead, 20-16. A free throw from Danny Fusco broke Wheelock's run, sparking him to score seven of the Hawk's next nine points.

The Purple and Gold finished off the first half by outscoring the Wildcats 19-5 in the last five minutes to go into halftime with a 45-30 lead.

The Hawks continued their dominance in the second half, opening it up with points from Matt Franks and George Keener. Hunter did not let the Wildcats closer than 17-points for the rest of the game, getting the eventual win, 87-58.

Fusco and Keener led the Purple and Gold with 19 points each, with Keener adding seven rebounds. Franks put up 14 points for the Hawks, while Abraham Rosow added another seven boards.

Hunter shot 54.8 percent from the floor, holding Wheelock to a 34.4 field goal percentage.

The Hawks return to action on January 9 when they host York College at the Sportsplex.
