New York, N.Y. - Hunter College men's soccer got a much-needed victory on Wednesday afternoon, defeating CUNYAC opponent Lehman College with a final score of 1-0.
The Hawks got their second win of the season, while the Lightning took just their second loss in conference play.
Hunter got their lone goal quickly into the first half as Jonathan Bautista kicked the ball into the crowd and
Nikola Ristovic headed it towards the goal.
William Benitez was credited with the goal after finding it and kicking it past the Lehman goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead at the 11:07 minute mark.
Several more shots were taken in the first half as Hunter got the edge on shots over Lehman, 6-5 at halftime.
The Purple and Gold held off the Lightning over the next 45 minutes of the second half to get their second win of the 2018 season.
Benitez led the team with three shots, while
Jordan Camacho,
Blaise Enama,
Daniel Pesantes and Ristovic each registered two in the win. Hunter Goalkeeper
Noah Dougherty played all 90 minutes, tallying one save.
The team returns to action on Saturday, October 6 when they face the College of Staten Island at 12 p.m.
