New York, N.Y. - Hunter College men's basketball finished the 2017-18 season on Saturday afternoon when they fell to #5 ranked John Jay College with a score of 88-77.
The #4 Hawks end the year with a 12-14 overall record and a conference mark of 8-8 for the most CUNYACÂ wins Hunter has recorded since the 2009-10 campaign.
The Purple and Gold led by as much as 18 points in the first half, getting a 38-23 advantage at halftime and holding the Bloodhounds to a 33.3 field goal percentage.Â
John Jay turned it around at the beginning of the second half, going on a 24-5 run in the first five minutes to take the lead by four points and 14:14 to play. The Bloodhounds were hard to stop, shooting 19 for 30 (63.3 percent) from the floor and tallying six three-pointers in the final 20 minutes. Hunter came within four points with 1:25 on the clock, but eventually fell, 88-77.
Senior
Amer Lukac led the Hawks in his final collegiate game with 22 points, while fellow senior
Matt Franks added 16.
George Keener recorded 16 points, adding seven rebounds and four assists to his stat line.
Franks ends his Hunter career with 1,051 total points, to rank 15th all-time in scoring in the Hunter record books.
