New Rochelle, N.Y. - Hunter College softball ended the 2018 regular season on Saturday by splitting a doubleheader against the College of New Rochelle, getting a win in the first game.
The Hawks finish up with a 19-15 overall record 10-2 record in the CUNYACÂ to place second in the conference standings.
The Purple and Gold scored 15 runs in the first game of the day, starting it out in the first inning as
Stefanie Abolt,
Annalise McClellan and
Samantha Molloy all recorded RBI's to make the score 4-0.
The Angels stayed close, trailing by just one run in the fifth inning until
Brittney Salvador tripled to center field to allow
Alana Vezza to score. The Hawks scored three more runs in the sixth to lead 8-3. The seventh was another big inning for the Hawks, recording six runs off hits from Gianna Raimondi,
Alisha Dovicsak, Abolt and Molloy. The Angels were unable to keep up as Hunter took the game, 15-8.
Hunter scored three runs in the second game, but eventually fell 5-3. Susanna Granieri led the squad with two RBI's, while Abolt added two hits in the loss.
The team returns to action next week when they compete in the CUNYAC Championship tournament.
