New York, N.Y. - Hunter College men's tennis wrapped up the 2018 season on Thursday evening with a 5-2 loss to Baruch College in the finals of the CUNYAC championship tournament.
The Hawks finish the year with a 9-2 overall record, going 5-1 in conference matches.
The duo of
Sean Kemp and
Joel Cantila were the lone Hunter win in doubles competition as they earned an 8-1 victory at the no. 2 spot. Florimond Le Goupil Maier and
Nasser Ghaffar fell in a close contest at the no. 1 court with a score of 5-8, while
Omer Khalifa and
Filip Koritysskiy dropped no. 3 doubles, 4-8.
Down 2-1 going into singles competition, Khalifa pulled out a win for the Hawks at the no. 5 court with scores of 7-5 and 6-3. He was the only Hawk to get a win, as two courts were unable to finish before Baruch captured the CUNYAC title with a final score of 5-2.
The Purple and Gold graduate two seniors from the squad in Maier and Koritysskiy.
