BOX SCORE Jamaica, N.Y. - Hunter College men's basketball dropped a conference game on Friday night, falling to York College with a score of 86-52.
The Hawks are now 4-12 overall and 2-7 in CUNYAC, while the Cardinals earned their second conference game of the season.
Hunter struggled to stop the Cardinals from scoring as York recorded a 53.8 field goal percentage for one of their best shooting performances of the season.
York took the early lead, going up by eight points in the first three minutes. The Hawks closed in on the lead and trailed by just one after a
Glenn Vazquez three-pointer, but the Cardinals went on a 30-15 run to finish the half with a 45-29 lead.
The Cardinals lengthened their advantage to more than 20 points within the first four minutes of the second half and then went up by 30 at the 9:22 minute mark. The Hawks did their best to stop the scoring by forcing 17 turnovers, but the Cardinals finished the game with 11 threes, compared to Hunter's four. York also out-rebounded the Hawks, 45-30.
George Keener posted 20 points in the loss to lead the Purple and Gold.
The team returns to action on Monday, January 21 when they host Centenary College at 3 p.m.
