Brooklyn, N.Y. - Hunter College women's basketball dropped a fourth quarter lead to fall to Brooklyn College on Thursday evening with a score of 62-51 for their first CUNYAC loss of the season.
The Hawks are now 4-8 this season and 3-1 in conference play, while the Bulldogs are 5-5 overall with a 2-0 CUNYAC record.
The Purple and Gold got the edge in shooting percentage in the loss, while forcing 24 Bulldog turnovers, but were unable to hold on to the lead established in the first three quarters.
Theresa Leung hit a three to start the second quarter to give the Hawks an 11-point advantage. Brooklyn closed the gap in the remaining minutes but the Hawks were still able to lead 27-24 at halftime.
It wasn't until the fourth that Hunter lost control as the Bulldogs tied it up, 44-44 with nine minutes to play. The Bulldogs outscored the Hawks 20-7 in the remaining minutes to get the 62-51 victory.
Jade Aponte led the team with 11 points, while
Ashley Arias grabbed seven rebounds in the game.
The team will return to action on Monday, January 5 for a 1 p.m. game against the College of Staten Island.
