BOX SCORE New York, N.Y. - Hunter College men's basketball dropped its fifth CUNYAC game of the season on Monday night, falling to Lehman College with a score of 81-69 at the Sportsplex.
The Hawks are now 3-10 overall and 1-5 in conference play, while the Lightning improved to 3-2 in the league.
Lehman pulled away quickly in the first half, going up by seven points in the first three minutes and then leading by as much as 15 points with 7:14 on the clock. A late 20-10 run by the Hawks helped them trail by just five points, 36-31, at halftime.
The Lightning led by double-digit points for most of the second half, finding a 15-point advantage at the 11-minute mark. The Hawks managed to find points from
Abraham Rosow,
Danny Fusco,
George Keener and
Nolan Bruesehoff over the next three minutes to close in on Lehman, cutting their lead to seven points. Despite hitting shots, the Hawks could not stop the Lightning from scoring on their end of the floor as they stayed in control for the rest of the game to get the 81-69 victory.
Fusco led the team with 19 points, followed by
George Keener's 15.
Melvin Collins added 13 points, while Bruesehoff recorded 11 in his Hunter debut.
The team returns to action on Wednesday, January 9 when they travel to CCNY for another CUNYAC game.
