In a non conference match up before finals The Hunter Hawks Men's Basketball team dropped a non-conference game to NYU 75-68. Hunter came back out of an early 16-4 hole in the first half to get within 3 in the final 2 minutes of the game but could not close the gap any closer down the stretch.
The Hunter Hawks were led by
George Keeners 29 points shooting 61% from the field, including 4 assists and 4 steals.
Melvin Collins hit 3 three for the Hawks as the second leading scorer with 9 points. 8 of the 9 Hawks who saw game action scored, including 8 points for
Daouda Berete who went 3-4 from the field and 2-2 from the line in just 4 minutes! Freshman
Judah McIntyre made an impact on the defensive end gathering 4 steals, that were part of NYU's 20 turnovers for the game.
The Hawks pulled within 7 with 1:27 left and made another mini run to get the lead down to 3 at 71-68 but could not convert any other attempts as NYU went 4-4 from the free throw line to close it out.
The Hawks return to action after the holidays on the road at Centenary College on 12/30 with a 4pm tip-off!
