New York, N.Y. - Hunter College women's basketball defeated John Jay College on Wednesday night, 79-49, confirming their first-place standing in the CUNYAC and capturing the regular-season championship.
The Hawks end the regular season with a 15-1 conference record. They have not lost a league game since January 3.
The Bloodhounds took the first quarter lead, but the Hawks came back with two minutes left in the second quarter to tie it up at 27 at the half. The Purple and Gold pulled ahead for good with 5:45 on the clock in the third off a 12-4 run.
Hunter went on to have an incredible fourth quarter, scoring 30 points to John Jay's five.

Christine Patterson and
Ashley Arias all contributed points to the fourth quarter surge, helping Hunter to a 30-point victory.
Aponte led the team with 24 points, followed by Conway's 13.
Marlena Budna added nine rebounds in the win.
The team returns to action on Tuesday, February 22 when they host the semifinal round of the CUNYAC Tournament.
