Old Westbury, N.Y. - Hunter College softball found two dominant wins on Tuesday against The College of Old Westbury, winning the first game, 19-5 and the second 10-0.
The Hawks improved to 10-7 overall with the victories and continue to be 5-1 in CUNYAC play.
Hunter immediately took control of the first game as
Brittney Salvador and
Colleen McCoy recorded RBI's to make the score 3-0. From there the Hawks had a huge second inning, scoring 10 runs, and then posted another three in the third to lead 16-0.
Old Westbury got on the board in the third, but it was not enough to catch up to the Purple and Gold, who finished out the game with three more runs.
Gianna Raimondi led the efforts with three hits, while
Caroline Bibula, Salavador, McCoy,
Maria Laboy and
Kayla Pilotti all tallied two hits each.
Leanna Donahue got the win for the Hawks from the circle.
Hunter shut out the Panthers in the second game of the day, scoring 10 runs in just three innings. McCoy led the offense with three hits as BIbula, Salvador,
Allyson Bricker and Laboy all followed with two.
Samantha Molloy posted a team-high three RBI's in the win.
Diana Ferreira got the win as pitcher to improve to 2-0 this season.
The Hawks return to action on Wednesday when they travel to the College of Mount Saint Vincent for a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader.
