Reading, PA. - Hunter College softball fell in the first round of the ECAC Division III Softball Tournament on Wednesday to Albright College with a final score of 6-5.
The Hawks trailed for most of the game before making a comeback in the seventh inning.
The Lions got on the board in the third, scoring three runs to lead 3-0. They added two more in the fourth for a solid 5-0 advantage going into the sixth inning. At the top of the sixth, Hunter's
Gianna Raimondi singled to left field to help
Brittney Salvador score and give the Hawks their first run of the game.
The Purple and Gold added another run, but Albright responded with one more of their own to make the score 6-2.
Things got exciting for the Hawks in the seventh when
Allyson Bricker recorded a double to allow two runners to score. Raimondi got another hit with two outs to give Hunter five runs, but it was too late for the Purple and Gold, who fell by just one.
Bricker finished the game with three hits, while Raimondi and
Erin Schweers each tallied two in the loss.
The Hawks finished the 2019 season with a 20-12 overall record and an 11-1 CUNYAC record, capturing their first regular season conference championship in four years.
