New York, N.Y. - Hunter College women's tennis had their first loss of the season on Wednesday when they fell to Farmingdale State with a final score of 7-2.
The Hawks are still off to a good start to the season, posting an overall record of 5-1, while the Rams have improved to 8-1.
The Purple and Gold dropped all three doubles match ups to start the day, with the #1 duo of
Zaara Afida and
Elaine Zhang falling, 8-3.
Afida came close to taking the first set of her singles match, but eventually fell with scores of 6-7 and 2-6.
Ksenia Zevyakina at the #5 court finished off her opponent to score some points for Hunter, winning in a tiebreaker set.
At the #6 spot,
Bernice Shi got another victory for the Hawks, but it would not be enough to overtake the Rams.
The team returns to action on September 28 when they travel to Lehman College for a 12 p.m. match.
