Selinsgrove, PA - Hunter College women's volleyball went 0-2 at the River Hawk Invitational on Saturday, dropping the first match to #20 nationally ranked Wesleyan University and then falling in three to Susquehanna University.
The Hawks are now 6-9 overall this season and continue to be 4-0 in conference play. Wesleyan improved to 10-2 this season and Susquehanna is now 15-3 overall.
The Purple and Gold started the day with a three-set loss to Wesleyan with scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-11.
Hunter was led on offense by
Kylie Hurst's seven kills, while
Kendra Moore added six in the loss.
Summer Magliochetti posted 15 assists and Hurst and
Ariana Silva each found a team-high eight digs.
The Hawks later faced a Susquehanna team that defeated Wesleyan earlier in the day. Despite staying close most of the sets, the Purple and Gold fell to the River Hawks in three with scores of 25-18, 25-18 and 25-19.
Isabelle Lawrence led the efforts with eight kills and a .217 hitting percentage, while Hurst followed with six. Magliochetti and
Justine Smith split time as the setter, posting 11 and 13 assists, respectively.
Sunghee Cho found 20 digs in the loss, while Hurst added ten.
The team returns to action on Wednesday, September 2 when they travel to Vassar College for a 7 p.m. match.
