BOX SCORE 3 Haverford, PA. - Hunter College women's volleyball fell in three matches on Friday and Saturday, dropping games to Neumann University, Cabrini University and Haverford College.
With the losses, the Hawks fall to 1-3 so far this season after getting a win in their season opener vs. William Paterson.
The competition started on Friday, where the Purple and Gold were defeated by Neumann in three sets with scores of 25-17, 25-10 and 25-20.
Kylie Hurst led the offense with eight kills, while
Sunghee Cho earned a team-high eight digs in the loss.
On Saturday morning the Hawks dropped three sets to Cabrini. Hurst led the team with seven kills as
Rodica Nedea,
Isabelle Lawrence and
Mariam Ouattara followed with five kills each.
Justine Smith and
Summer Magliochetti split time at setter, recording 14 and 12 assists apiece. Hurst added 15 digs in the loss, while Cho followed with 10.
Hunter finished off the two-day tournament by taking undefeated Haverford to five sets, featuring scores of 15-25, 25-23, 15-25, 26-24 and 15-17.
The fifth set was tightly contested as the Ford took a 4-2 lead before kills from
Kendra Moore and
Kylie Hurst tied up the score. The Hawks found three more kills and capitalized on Ford errors to go up 10-7.
From there Haverford scored four-straight to pull ahead by one, but the Hawks tied it up at 14. A kill from Moore kept the Hawks in the game, but Haverford managed the last two points to win the set, 17-5 and get the match victory.
Hurst led the Hawks with 14 kills, while Moore followed with 12. Lawrence recorded 10 kills and a team-high hitting percentage of .381. Smith paced the offense with 31 assists, while Cho tallied 28 digs in the match.
Hurst was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts.
The team returns to action on Tuesday, September 10 when they travel to USMMAÂ for a 7 p.m. match.
