New York, NY – The men's volleyball team stayed perfect at home on the season as they hosted the Dolphins of Mount Saint Vincent in a non-conference contest. The Hawks won in dominating fashion, racing to a three-set victory, 25-6, 25-8, 25-13 and advancing to 7-3 on the season thus far.
David Lou and
Jben Mui tied for the team lead with 11 kills each.
Daniel Kim added eight kills in his first action of the season.
Raymond Yu had the setting duties for most of the evening and registering 27 assists while chipping in two digs and two service aces.
As a team, the Purple and Gold tallied 43 kills, six service aces, four blocks and 32 digs while hitting .427. All of those team statistics were better than their challengers.
In the first set, Hunter jumped out to a 10-4 lead with kills by Sharrod Cole and Mui. They would continue to pile it on scoring 11 straight points on
Blake Hogans serve. The Hawks finished out the set on
Alec Helford's serve finishing the set at 25-6
The Purple and Gold picked up where they left off in the second set scoring 11 of the first 12 points to lead 11-1. The gap would continue to widen as the set progressed as a serve by
Aryaan Meer made the score 22-7.
David Lou would hammer home another kill to end the set at 25-8.
In the third, Hunter came out strong and led the game 9-2 after a kill by Mui. Mount Saint Vincent made a run of their own to bring the score back to 13-9. The Hawks would regain their composure though scoring the next five points aided by three kills from Lou. A hitting error by the Dolphins would end the set at 25-13 giving Hunter a 3-0 victory.
The Hawks have a tough matchup on Saturday, February 15th when they head to Long Island to face Saint Joe's LI in a non-conference matchup at 1pm.
