The Hawks made seven of their final eight attempts from the charity stripe to hold on for the win.

New York, NY – The men's basketball team edged out the Beavers of CCNY on Saturday evening, coming away with a slim 76-71 win. The Hawks have now won seven of their last eight games and advance their record to 10-14 overall and 8-5 in conference action.

Hunter trailed in the early minutes of the half until Fusco knocked down each of his free throw attempts to give his team a 9-8 lead. With 10:04 left on the clock, Melvin Collins knocked down a big three pointer to give them their largest lead of the half at six. CCNY's Romello Rashad made two from the charity stripe with just over two minutes left and put the Beavers ahead by one. Fusco knocked down a three pointer at the buzzer to make it knotted at 29 apiece heading into halftime.

The Purple and Gold fell behind by as much as eight points in the second half. However, they slowly chipped away at the deficit. Sparked by a Keener layup and capped with a McIntyre deuce, Hunter used a 6-0 run to take their first lead which they ultimately held on to through the end of the game. They lead by six with just under two minutes left to play and held on to that lead after knocking down seven of their final eight attempts from the charity stripe.

The Hawks return home for their final game of the regular season on Tuesday, February 18 when they host the Bloodhounds of John Jay at 7pm. Currently, Hunter is sitting tied with Lehman for third in the conference standings.
