Women's Hoops Tripped Up Against Stevenson in ECAC First Round

Hunter fell behind by as much as 35 points at one point

Radnor, PA – The women's basketball team concluded their 2019-20 season earlier this evening in the first round of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament first round with a loss to Stevenson University by way of a  91-68 score. They finish the season with a 16-12 overall record and an 11-3 mark in conference action.

Janine Conway posted a game high 22 points while both Phoebe Valenton and Theresa Leung chipped in with an even split of 22 points. Kristina Krslovic added nine points and six boards while Maya Thompson did her part with eight points and grabbing six rebounds in 23 minutes of action. Defensively, the Hawks took care of the ball and turned it over just 18 times compared to their counterpart's 27 while tallying 15 steals.

An early 11-1 Stevenson lead set the Hawks back from the get-go. A jumper from the Mustang's Denia Campbell to cap the first made it a 25-13 affair at the end of the quarter. The struggles continued for the Purple and Gold as they went cold from the floor in the second, managing just six points. The result was a halftime deficit of 26 points.

Trying to come from behind, they posted a 19-point third quarter with nine of those coming from the hands of Conway. They put in an 8-0 run, bookended with triples from Krslovic and Madison LaSalle but still faced an uphill battle heading into the fourth. There, they finally found their stroke and shot 11-23 from the field. Despite an impressive output of 30 points in the final 10 minutes of the game, it would not be enough as time expired with the final score reading 91-68 in favor of Stevenson.

The Hawks conclude their season with a 16-12 overall record record.
