Women's Volleyball Sweeps St. Joseph's Brooklyn on the Road

BOX SCORE Brooklyn, N.Y.- The Hunter College women's volleyball team swept St. Joseph's College in a non-conference match on Thursday night at the Hill Center.

The 3-0 victory puts the Hawks at 10-10 overall while the Bears sit at 4-10. The opening set saw Hunter come out in a three point deficit but quickly came back scoring five consecutive to take the lead. The home team would come back to tie up the score at 7-7 and again at 16-16 but Hunter was relentless and continued to overcome, eventually taking the first set 26-24.

The Hawks came out strong in the second, taking the first four points. They would hold the lead for the set's entirety, soaring past the Bears with a 25-12 victory. One set away from taking the match, the Bears started out up three and trailed until another 7-all tie. A kill by Brittany Wang set the Hawks apart as they took the lead and didn't look back as they won 25-18 to sweep the Bears.

Wang led the team for the night with a career-high three service aces in addition to her five kills and dig. Mariapaz Lojano also boasted a stand out night, with a pair of aces as she led the team with eight kills on the night.

The Hawks return to the floor on Tuesday as they hit the road to take on William Paterson University. First serve is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Wayne, N.J.
