New York- The Hunter College men's soccer team fell, 3-0, to conference opponent, Lehman College, at Randall's Island Wednesday afternoon.
The first half of play went scoreless. Despite Lehman (4-3-1, 2-1 CUNYAC) posting seven shots, the Hunter (1-8, 1-1 CUNYAC) defense held strong, led by keeper
Antony Simos. Late in the 17th minute Simos saved a lower right corner shot by the Lightening, which was followed up by another attempt, this time on the left. After his right side dive, Simos impressively adjusted to catch the next shot across the net, keeping the visitors off the board. Simos would record seven saves throughout the game.
Although the Hawks matched Lehman with shots in the first half, the second period saw just one attempt from the home team compared to the Lightening's nine. The visitors would score three goals unanswered between the 57th and 67th minutes to ultimately defeat Hunter.
The team returns to the pitch Saturday (Oct. 9) as it hosts Baruch in a conference match at noon on Randall's Island.
