Women's Basketball Routed by TCNJ on the Road

Ewing, N.J.- The Hunter College women's basketball team fell to non-conference opponent, The College of New Jersey, 78-34, on the road Monday night.

The Lions (3-3) were the first on the board with a three, but Hunter (3-4) was quick to answer as Kimberly Lau dropped one from behind the arc. Followed by two more field goals from TCNJ, to lead 9-3.

The quarter was slow after that, with almost three minutes passing before any other point was scored and another minute and a half of silence on each end of the next two baskets. Kristina Krslovic hit a three followed by one from Erin Cosio in tandem with a free throw, but it wouldn't be enough as the Hawks trailed 18-10 going into the second period of play.

The second quarter saw a burst of energy from graduate student, Maya Thompson, who recorded six points in the period for her season debut, despite Hunter continuing to trail.

The Hawks added nine more points in the third quarter as Lau hit a trio of field goals followed by an and-1 layup from Krslovic. Cosio hit a floater in the paint just over a minute into the final quarter but Hunter was silenced for the remainder of play and ultimately fell, 78-34.

Lau led the team with 11 points for the night; her fourth double-digit game of the season. She was followed by rookie, Cosio, with nine points, a career second-best. Lau and Cosio each recorded a trio of rebounds for the night, trailing only Krslovic who grabbed four boards on an eight point night.

Hunter returns to the court Friday for its conference opener as it hosts cross-town rival, Baruch, in the school's annual homecoming. Tip-off is slated for 5:00 p.m.
