BOX SCORE Madison, N.J.- In a thrilling battle the Hunter College women's volleyball team defeated FDU-Florham in a four set match on the road tonight.
The first set was close, with the two teams battling it out from the start. Hunter (2-2) would eventually take the win, 25-23, with no service errors and five aces, three by rookie
Erin Dugan.
The Devils (4-4) came out strong in the second, leading Hunter for a majority of the set, apart from a service ace from
Alexa Sayson to put the visitors ahead, 11-10. The Purple and Gold would then go down 12-18, but fought their way back as a kill from Dugan tied it up at 23. An attack error from Charlotte Fruscione would seal the Devils' fate, as the Hawks took the set 24-23.
The battle continued in the third as FDU came out strong, taking a 12-3 lead over Hunter. The Hawks would battle back but eventually drop the set, 19-25.
The team's resilience came through yet again to finish match in the fourth set, 25-15. Senior,
Mariam Ouattara, would lead the team in points for the night with 17.5, including three aces. Freshman libero,
Erin Hyman would make her impact with 29 digs in four sets.
The Hawks' season continues, this time across the bridge, as they will face New York University in Brooklyn on Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.
