BOX SCORE New York, NY- The Hunter College Men's Basketball team raced out to a 105-89 victory in the 2022-2023 home opener and for their first win of the season. 12 Hawks scored, with 4 players posting double digits, the Hawks went up 3-2 in the opening minutes and never looked back.
Pratt grabbed an immediate lead going up 2-0, but when Hunter connected on their sencond three point attempt to go up 3-2 the Hawks contuned to push the pace. up 6-5 early in the first half, Hunter went on a 15-0 run to go up 21-5 half way through the first half. In teh first hald the Hawks were able to go by as many as 25. Pratt would not back down as they continued to chip away going into half time. 5 and a half minutes into the second half Pratt had shrunk the lead to 12 but a free throw from
Jeremy Montrose ended the come back as the Hawks extended their lead and never let the visitors get any closer.
Ryan Lau led the Hawks with 18 points, while sophomore
Jeremy Montrose had 17 points, going 7-8 from the line and grabbing 4 steals.
Luka Jakic did his damage from the free throw line, scoring all 11 of his points on 11-12 shooting from the line. Ernie Parada made his presence off the bench known chipping in with 10 points and a team high 7 rebounds.
The Hawks had a complete team effort in the win, with 12 players scoring, 55 points were scored off the bench. To go along with all the scoring the Hawks racked up 16 assists to go along with 28 steals, and 32 points off of turnovers. They alls knocked down 16 three's and shot 27-38 from the line for 67%.
Hunter returns to action on Thursday 11/17 at the Sportsplex hosting Mount Saint Vincent at 6pm.
