New York, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's basketball team dropped an 112-98 decision to Mount Saint Vincent at home on Thursday evening.
Despite the loss, the Hawks (1-3) had an five student-athletes score in doubted. Two of those players,
Cormac Reilly and
Jeremy Montrose, each dropped 20, a season-high for both. Reilly sank an impressive six threes with eight rebounds while Montrose added an addition five three-point baskets.
Luka Jakic continued to show up, as he recorded another double-double, grabbing 12 rebounds and netting 17 points.
Off the bench, Ernie Parada and
Gene Propper made big contributions, finishing the night with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Jared Brown also made him mark on the offense with 12 assists on the night.Â
In a high-scoring first half, the Hawks trailed Mount Saint Vincent (1-2) 76-41 heading into the locker room. Hunter came out firing in the second half of play, holding the Dolphins to just 36 points while Hunter exploded for 57. Hunter was relentless, managing 36 points off of turnovers, compared to the visitor's 21, in part due to Propper's season-high four steals on the night. The Purple and Gold also added 23 second change points, while holding the Dolphins to just eight.Â
Despite the efforts, the Hawks were unable to overcome Mount Saint Vincent's explosive first half and ultimately fell, 112-98.
The Hawks return to the court on Tuesday Nov. 22 as they host SUNY Cobleskill in a nonconference matchup. Tip-off is slated for 6:00 p.m.
