Bronx, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's basketball team fell to no. 1 seeded Lehman College, 122-95, in the semifinal round of the City of New York Athletic Conference Tournament.
Luka Jakic led the team with 17 points going three-for-three from beyond the arc, but Lehman was able to hold the team's leading rebounder to just five rebounds, unusually low for the First Team All-Star.
Ryan Lau followed close with 16 points including four threes.
Despite having three additional players score in double-digits, the Hawks' struggle on the offensive side of the ball proved to be the difference, as the team was held to under 100 points for only the seventh time this season. Hunter was held to just 36.7% overall and 28.1 in three-pointers.
The Hawks were able to force 18 turnovers in the loss and nine steals including a pair each from
Casey Meyers and
Jeremy Montrose.
The Purple and Gold grabbed the first basket of play but trailed for the remainder of the game.
Despite the loss, Hunter finished the season ranked top-three in the country in multiple categories including points per game, 3-point attempts per game, and assists per game.
