Brooklyn, N.Y.- The Hunter College women's basketball team fell to Brooklyn College on the road on Friday evening, 83-75.
The Hawks (8-8, 2-3 CUNYAC) started off hot with a 9-2 run, capitalized by a three from freshman,
Alexa Charles. Brooklyn (8-7, 5-0 CUNYAC) was able to cut the lead to two by the end of the first quarter of play. The Purple and Gold were able to keep it within five for most of the second quarter, as
Nia Chung added six points, until the final minute when the Bulldogs went up eight heading into the intermission. Â
Brooklyn took off in the second half, leading by double-digits for the majority, despite Hunter matching it's 41 points.Â
Charles led Hunter with 28 points on the night, before fouling out in the fourth quarter, as she grabbed six rebounds and logged a trio of steals.
Kimberly Lau also had an impressive 19 points. Following was
Nia Chung who recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The teams were closely matched in many aspects, as Hunter shot for 41.8% overall and 33.3% from three, just behind the Bulldogs' 46.3% and 39.3%.Â
On the defensive side of the ball, Hunter out-rebounded the home team, 41-25, netting 14 second chance points, compared to Brooklyn's 12.Â
