Bronx, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's basketball team fell short in a closely contested matchup against the College of Mount Saint Vincent in the Peter Jay Sharp Center on Saturday afternoon as they narrowly fell 65-64 on the road.
The first half saw the Hawks (0-2) taking a 36-24 lead over CMSV. Seniors Luka Jakic and Jack Meyers were instrumental in their team's first-half performance, contributing significantly to the score. In the first half, Hunter went 3-40 field goals (32.50%), 5-17 three-pointers (29.41%), 5-6 free throws (83.33%), outperforming the Dolphins who managed 28.13% from the field, 23.0*% beyond the arc and 42.86 at the line. However, CMSV fought back in the second half, outscoring Hunter 41-28. Competition was tight for the game's entirety as the crowd saw seven lead changes and three ties throughout the night.
Jakic led the Hawks scoring with 17 points, showcasing his skills with 7-18 field goals and 3-5 free throws. He also grabbed an impressive 19 rebounds for a double-double. Jack Meyers also scored in double digits with 13 points, making 5-17 from the field and 3-5 at the free thrown line. Casey Meters and Kareem McDonald also played crucial roles, scoring 9 and 8 points, respectively.
Hunter looks to capture its first win on Tuesday Nov. 14th as they travel to Pratt for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off.
