BOX SCORE Township, N.J.- The Hunter College men's basketball team secured an 84-72 win over St. Joseph's Brooklyn at the TNCJ Tournament this weekend.
The game started with the Hawks (2-3)Â taking control in the first half, leading 38-25. The Bears (0-4)Â struggled to find their rhythm, shooting 30.3% from the field and 21.4% from beyond the arc in the initial period. Hunter, on the other hand, had a more efficient first half, shooting 37.8% from the field and 18.2% from three-point range.
In the second half, Saint Joe's improved their shooting performance, hitting 41.67% from the field and 36.36% from three-point range. However, the Purple and Gold maintained their lead, shooting 40.54% from the field and 26.09% from beyond the arc in the second half.
Hunter's offensive efforts were led by Jack Meyers with 16 points while grabbing nine rebounds and Luka Jakic who secured a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Ryan Lau also netted an impressive 10 points including three from beyond the arc. Jeremy Montrose also recorded double-digit points as he scored 10 off the bench and grabbed three rebounds. Enzo Caceres-Roussel also added eight points and eight rebounds for the Hawks.
Throughout the game, the lead changed multiple times, showcasing competitive moments. The Hawks capitalized on fast-break opportunities, scoring 18 points in transition, and also dominated in the paint with 32 points. The bench also played a significant role, contributing 36 points for Hunter.
Hunter continues its season on Nov. 21 as they host SUNY Brockport in the Sportsplex at 5:00 p.m.
