Hawks Fall to Moravian, 91-67

BOX SCORE Bethlehem, Pa.- In a challenging match up at Johnston Hall in Bethlehem, the Hunter College men's basketball team faced Moravian College in Moravian's Steel Club Classic tournament. Despite putting up a strong second-half performance, the Hawks couldn't overcome Moravian's early lead, resulting in a final score of 91-67, as Hunter fell to 3-7, while the Greyhounds improved to 5-5, 

Hunter faced a tough challenge in the first half, trailing Moravian 37-24. Shooting struggles plagued the team, with a field goal percentage of 29.41% and a three-point percentage of 9.09%. Despite the deficit, Kareem McDonald led the scoring efforts with 22 points, showcasing his offensive prowess. The second half saw improved offensive performance from Hunter, shooting 42.42% from the field and 33.33% from beyond the arc. McDonald continued to lead the charge, finishing with 22 points, while Corey Jones Jr. contributed 13 points, connecting on three three-pointers.

McDonald's exceptional scoring performance stood out, contributing 22 points, including six successful free throws. He also recorded three steals and two assists, showcasing his all-around game. Corey Jones Jr. also made an impact with 13 points, hitting three threes, while Jakic had an efficient game, shooting 71.4% from the field and contributing 11 points along with six rebounds.

Despite the loss, Hunter showcased strengths in fast break points (15) and points in the paint (22). However, Moravian's dominant rebounding (46) and points off turnovers (26) played a crucial role in securing the victory. The game featured 15 lead changes and two ties, demonstrating the competitiveness on the court.

The Hawks return to the court tomorrow as they continue in the tournament tomorrow against Penn State Behrend at 3:30 p.m.
