Springfield, Mass.- The Hunter College men's volleyball team dropped two games at the Springfield Tri-match on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks first faced hosting Springfield where they fell in a 3-1 bout, followed by a 3-0 loss to St. Joseph's Long Island as the team falls to 2-4 for the season.
Against Springfield, Hunter dropped the first set 25-23 but came back with a dominant 25-16 victory in the second, led by six kills from
Ted Kim. The home team came back to take the third 25-8. Hunter fought back in the fourth set to the end but would ultimately drop the final set 25-22.Â
The Hawks hit for .219 overall compared to the Pride's .420 and tallied 35 total kills on the night, while Springfield amassed 45. Kim led the team with 11 kills and three aces, while
Cooper Moran added 28 assists, a pair of aces, two blocks and five digs.
Matisse Lee-Maarek had nine kills in the loss in addition to a duo of aces and two blocks.
Sergio Aguado led the team with seven digs.Â
Hunter drop its second game of the tri-match against Saint Joseph's Long Island, 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-15).Â
David Lou and Lee-Maarek led the team with seven kills each in the second match of the day, while Kim added an additional four. Moran amassed 15 assists and four more digs to his stat line, while Aguado once again led the team with seven digs.Â
The Hawks return to the court on Feb. 25 against CCNY.
