Softball Drops 3-11 Decision Against John Jay

Bronx, N.Y.- The Hunter College women's softball team dropped a 3-11 decision at Jonh Jay College on Saturday afternoon to fall to 7-18 overall and 2-1 in conference.

Jonh Jay started off with a big inning, scoring six runs in the bottom of the first and tacking on another two in the second while Hunter remained off the board. Another score in the third put the Hawks at a 10-0 deficit but the team came alive in the fourth. Paige Witalec got on base with a single followed by a triple from Fowler who sent Witalec home. A sacrifice bunt from Bowe added another run as Fowler was sent home. In the fifth inning, Kayla Pilotti started off with a double while another double from Sophia Perez sent her home as the Hawks trailed 3-10. The Bloodhounds added another run at the bottom of the inning to secure a 3-11 win.

Hunter recorded six total hits compared to John Jay's 13 but matched their opponent with three doubles on the day. The Hawks were right behind the Bloodhounds with 14 puts compared to John Jay's 15 as Leah Dillon logged five and Adriana Ramirez added four from behind the plate.

Relievers Alyssa Curiale and T'ea Panagakos each had a strikeout in the loss.

Hunter returns to the field for a double-header against New Jersey City University on April 20th.
