Middlebury, VT- The Hunter College women's tennis team was selected to take on Drew in the 2023 Division III NCAA tournament. The women's tennis team will compete in the NCAA Division III Championships when it joins five other teams in a first, second, and third-round pod at Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont from Friday through Sunday.

The Hawks (13-0 ) will take on  Drew (18-2) in the first round on Friday at 2 p.m., with the other first-round matchup featuring Hartwick and Lebanon Valley at 10 a.m. The winner of the Drew/Hunter match will move on to the second round on Saturday to face 28th-ranked Skidmore at 2 p.m. while the Hartwick/Lebanon Valley winner will face fourth-ranked Middlebury at 10 a.m. The two second-round winners will meet in the third round and the final match of the regional on Sunday at noon.

This is the first match up with Drew since the 2013 season, when the Rangers defeated the Hawks 7-2.  This is also the first time that Hunter is back in the NCAA tournament since 2013.  Hunter has been to the NCAA tournament 11 times and is looking for their first team win.  Drew and Hunter have matched up 6 times with a 4-2 advantage going to Drew.  

Hunter will look to continue their winning ways with a first round win, as the Hawks have won all of their matches this year going 12-0 thus far.  Hunter will look to Sophomore Angelina Catania who is slated for #2 doubles, she is 8-0 in that flight this season.  Anna Chapko is also undefeated in singles play this year winning in #3, #4, #5 and #6 flights.  Seniors Zaara Afida and Nikki Rathi will put their singles and doubles records up to try and extend the season.
