Wrestling Volunteers at Tunnel to Towers

New York, N.Y.- The Hunter College wrestling team volunteered in the annual Tunnel to Towers Foundation race, in remembrance of the Sept. 11, 2001 attack.

Spearheaded by senior, Naman Bhasin, who has also been Marine Corps reservists for the past four years in the infantry, the group showed up early to help set up and coordinate the race, and finished the day by making the 5k run themselves.

"This is a cause that hits home for the team, working in the Marine Corps and previously as an EMT, I work closely with first-responders," said Bhasin, who took the lead in coordinating the day for his team.

The team also has a close tie as head coach Pete Jacobson served in the FNDY for 21 years and was himself a first-responder to the tragedy, "For me, as a FDNY firefighter and a 9/11 responder, this is also a cause that is near and dear to my heart," said Jacobson.

The organization provides numerous services and programs for first-responders and injured veterans, and lends a helping hand in the local community. The annual run, which began in 2002, follows the firefighter, Stephen Siller's famous final steps he took on 9/11/01.
