BOX SCORE New York, N.Y.- In a commanding performance in the Sportsplex, the Hunter College women's volleyball team soared to a dominant 3-0 victory over Lehman, to remain undefeated in conference play. The Hawks, now 14-5 overall and 4-0 in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC), showcased a balanced attack and solid defense to secure their 25-10, 25-11, 25-5 sweep.
Lily Mattison was unstoppable, leading the Hawks' offensive charge with 13 kills on 22 attempts, hitting an impressive .500. Mattison's precision helped Hunter build momentum early, with support from standout setter Bethany Tomaneng, who dished out 29 assists and contributed a duo of service aces.
Desiree Morales was another stand out, hitting a remarkable .727 with eight kills from 11 attempts. Hunter's efficiency at the net was clear as they collectively hit .444 for the match, with Simone McIntyre and Izabella Williams adding key contributions of three and four kills, respectively.
The Purple and Gold's serving was another decisive factor, with Liliana Khidr leading the way with an impressive five aces, as the Hawks' aggressive approach from the line kept Lehman on the back foot throughout the match. Erin Dugan added two more aces to Hunter's tally, further disrupting the Lightning's rhythm.
On the defensive end, Tomaneng and Khidr were active with seven and four digs, respectively, limiting Lehman's offensive opportunities and keeping the Hawks in control.
The win further cements Hunter's position atop the CUNYAC standings, as they look to maintain their perfect conference record with the postseason looming.
The Hawks return to the court on Oct. 17 as they travel to Mahwah, N.J. to take on Ramapo College in a nonconference match. First-serve is slated for 7:00 p.m.
